Our christmas cactus has been plentiful with the flowers this year and is now down to one flower left. I have enjoyed having a plant that is still performing the function of producing flowers during this cold winter. It is a mysterious thing how this cactus blooms at Christmas time every year. How does it know it is time for it to bloom? I need to do some research, I know, but the mere fact that a plant is able to bloom at a specific time of year is so interesting and mind boggling to me.
