Emily's Storm

The weather has been beautiful and treacherous simultaneously in the northeast. My sister, Emily, has received her fair share of snow in Frederick, MD. She ventured out after most of the snow had fallen the other evening and took these photos. I thought they were lovely enough to share!

I honestly had the most wonderful time on our drive to PA from KY the other day. The way that the snow was laying so poetically on the tree branches enhanced my excitement to be going home for a white christmas. As we continued to drive and inched closer to our destination the accumulation continued to grow in obvious height.

When we finally arrived I didn't mind the cold and the hurdling steps that it took to walk through the snow. I even allowed Matson to roam free in the snow yesterday and she turned into a leaping canine, since the only way for her to get through the snow was to take big, bounding steps. It was a lot of fun to watch her, but not so fun to bring her back inside, only to have the snow that had formed icicles on her fur slowly melt all over the house.

So to say the least, after a few days of being home and having to travel to and fro in this snowy nonsense, I have realized how much I have adapted to the KY climate. I almost forget how scary it is to drive on the roads in PA after a snow storm. "How hard to brake" become a sensitive decision. I am going to enjoy every minute of the snow by admiring it gratefully from the indoors and be so grateful for a warm, cozy house.
