Happy Thanksgiving!

I can't imagine what it was like to take part in that first feast. They had so much to be thankful for. For that I am glad that we can all take time to set aside our busy schedules once every year, just to recognize the things in our lives that we appreciate.

I am thankful for:

*My husband: the man that challenges me to step out of myself and have a good look at the world around me. Without him, I feel I would be bitter and resentful and he encourages me to try to assemble some sort of positivity when I am completely down-trodden. He comforts me and holds me when I need affection and gives to me when I need it most. He sees the world through remarkably creative and innovative eyes and his knowledge and zeal for learning leave new impressions on me every day.

*My Family/Friends: the people who stick by your side through thick and thin. Individuals who you know will help you out of any sticky situation. People who you can share your darkest fears and insecurities with and know that they will be there to build you up and push you onward. The people who will love you when you need it most. The people that push you to become a better you and won't put up with anything less than your best. The people from whom you can learn wisdom that will help you battle through any of life's difficulties. Thank you!

*My dearest Matson: our dog who will forever remain our little puppy. She is usually the first thing I encounter when I return home and she is the sad onlooker every time I depart. Her loopy tail wags when she is happy and pleased. She is gracious with her licks and careful with her tugs. She is an unspeakable comfort and mysterious joy in my life!

*Challenges and struggles: without them I would be complacent and life would be monotonous. They bring adventure and maturity to my life and help to prepare me for the unknown future.

*Simple necessities: I'm so glad that what we need to live, we have. So many people have FAR LESS and live with far greater gratitude. Sometimes I think we would be better off with even littler amounts of food, clothing, and comfort than we already have. Life is good when you can be content with the bare essentials: love, laughter, and friendship. Thank you, God.

*Creativity: I am so appreciative of the unique gift of expressing through unique means. To me, life would be meaningless without this. I am constantly marveled by the thoughts, creations, and inventions of others. It is a blessing to be able to see the world through other's eyes, whether it be music, food, art.. and so on.. I am so grateful for creativity.

*Rest/Rejuvenation: whether it comes in the form of a nap, a good book, a decent movie/tv show, or simply from learning something new that removes me from isolated thinking, without feeling brand new and re-empowered from time to time, I don't think that I could wake up some mornings. Here's to exhilaration.

I feel like this list could go on and ON! We should have to make these lists every day in order to be reminded of how much we have. It is so easy to forget. I hope you all have a splendid day of thanks and giving!
